What’s it all about?
The Bury Landlord Accreditation Scheme has been set up to recognise and reward landlords who manage their properties to a good standard. Bury Metropolitan Borough Council and Great Places Housing Group have worked together to develop a set of standards that relate to homes, landlords and the management service provided by landlords. Landlords who join the scheme and abide by the standards are “accredited”.
Why should I join the scheme?
The scheme is voluntary, but there are lots of advantages if you join, such as:
- priority service from Housing Benefit
- marketing advantage over non-members
- information and training events on tenancy issues
- access to property improvement grants
- access to local maintenance contractors
- discount on insurance and other goods and services
- referencing service for prospective tenants
- marketing service for empty properties
- advice on energy efficiency
- use of standard model tenancy agreements
What benefits will I get?
As well as the advantages shown opposite, by joining the Bury Landlord Accreditation Scheme you will enjoy the status of being publicly identified as a good landlord. Being accredited will give you “the edge” when advertising your accredited status to tenants, who place emphasis on good quality and well managed accommodation.
Benefits for tenants
Tenants will benefit from knowing that if they choose to rent from a landlord accredited by the Bury Landlord Accreditation Scheme, the property will be in good condition and the tenancy will be managed to a good standard.
